  Problems in Corn Cultivation

  1. Failure to select suitable varieties

In recent years, although the country has advocated for the vigorous development of agriculture and implemented various agricultural policies benefiting the people, providing farmers with a large amount of technical support, most farmers' level of knowledge and culture is relatively low, and their awareness of agricultural planting remains in the past, and they cannot effectively utilize modern scientific planting techniques. Especially regarding the selection of corn varieties, some farmers' thinking remains in the past, believing that varieties can be chosen arbitrarily, and as long as fertilizers are sufficient later, there will be no major problems. This is completely wrong. For corn seeds of poor varieties, even if a large amount of fertilizer is applied later and pest-control pesticides are sprayed, the yield will not catch up with that of superior corn varieties. According to modern scientific cultivation theories, selecting suitable seeds not only relates to increasing corn yields but also effectively resists diseases and insect pests. The area of corn planting nationwide is large, and the cultivation range is dispersed. Farmers must combine the actual situation of the land to select suitable corn varieties, use suitable corn varieties for early prevention and control, and thus achieve the purpose of saving cultivation costs.

  2. Failure to set a reasonable planting density

Some farmers have not understood that a reasonable planting density is also an important reason for high yields in the autumn harvest. During the growth of corn, sufficient sunlight is needed for photosynthesis, and sufficient water and various essential nutrients are absorbed through the root system. However, some farmers still follow the old ideas of their ancestors, failing to pay enough attention to the cultivation density, believing that the more the number of plants, the greater the yield. This outdated and erroneous idea will lead to excessive corn planting density and reduced yield. As the corn continues to grow, it will block each other's sunlight and compete for absorption, failing to ensure that each plant receives sufficient nutrients during its growth, resulting in short corn plants and low yields in the autumn harvest. In addition, some farmers have already realized the importance of planting density, but due to their lack of sufficient cultivation knowledge, relying only on past cultivation experience, they have not been able to reasonably arrange the cultivation density. It is either too sparse or too dense, making it difficult to achieve the cultivation purpose of increasing yield.
